JOHN MEDEIROS JR
JJohn Medeiros Jr. is a versatile drummer, educator, and performer whose career spans more than three decades on international stages and in the classroom. Known for his versatility and dynamic style, John has performed and recorded with world-class artists including Joe Louis Walker, Stanley Jordan, Danny Seraphine, Popa Chubby, Eliza Neals, Anthony Geraci, Diane Blue, Roberto Morbioli, Cheryl Arena, Greg Piccolo and many more.
Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, John’s love of music began early, surrounded by the diverse sounds that filled his home. His first instrument was guitar, taught to him by his father, but it was hearing Neil Peart’s legendary drum solo on Rush’s Exit Stage Left that ignited his lifelong passion for drumming.
That passion led him to the Berklee College of Music (1987–1991), where he received multiple scholarships and studied with some of the world’s leading musicians. After graduating, John launched his professional career, performing across genres from blues and rock to jazz and fusion. His work has taken him to festivals and venues across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, including extensive tours with Blues Hall of Fame inductee Joe Louis Walker, with whom he performed worldwide from 2019 until Walker’s passing in 2025. John can be heard on Walker’s acclaimed record Weight of the World.
In addition to his touring credits, John has recorded and performed with Eliza Neals (drummer on Sweet or Mean featuring Popa Chubby) and jazz guitar icon Stanley Jordan, whom he met while touring in China. Today, he is an active member of the Bruce Katz Band, continuing to push his artistry forward while honoring his deep blues and jazz roots.
John is also a dedicated educator. He teaches drums, bass, and guitar throughout New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
